Amateur Photography Contest Prizes

Second Prize: Intensive 2½-day photo workshop at Santa Fe Workshops.

Ground Itinerary provided my Mesoamerica Travel:

Day 1: San Pedro Sula
Arrival in San Pedro Sula. Transfer to hotel, overnight in San Pedro Sula.  

Day 2: Cerro Azul Meambar National Park
Early morning transfer to the visitor's centre of the Cerro Azul Meambar National Park. After a short introduction, explore the magnificent tropical forest of the Azul Meambar National Park. Your walk will take you to the interchange zone between the rain and cloud forest. This national park is one of the main protected areas around Lake Yojoa and feeds the lake by many small rivers of the surrounding mountains. Return to San Pedro Sula in the later afternoon.

Day 3: San Pedro Sula - Copán
Travel through scenic landscapes until reaching Copán Ruinas. After settling in, you will tour the Copán Village Museum located in the town square. Afternoon visit to Las Sepulturas, a residential and burial site of the Mayan nobles.

Day 4: Copan
Upon viewing the stunning art and architecture of Copán, archaeologist Sylvanus Morley proclaimed it the Athens of the New World. This UNESCO World Heritage Site represents one of the most spectacular cultural achievements of antiquity. Recent work has helped restore the magnificent hieroglyphic stairway to its former grandeur, and art historians are presently reconstructing the elaborate facades on the buildings. Throughout the site, finely chiseled writing tells us the story of the powerful kings of the Copán lineage, from Yax K'uk Mo', the founder, to Waxaklajuun Ubaah K'awill, one of the greatest rulers.

  Day 5: Copan - San Pedro Sula
Morning left free to enjoy the charming village of Copán Ruinas. At indicated time return to San Pedro Sula on time to visit the Guamilito market. Farewell dinner.

  Day 6: San Pedro Sula - Depart
Morning transfer to San Pedro Sula airport in time to connect with your international departure flight.
